UCF Board of Trustees
The Board of Regents (BOR), former overseer of all of Florida's public universities, was abolished in 2001 as a result of the legislature passing two proposals (HB 1533 and SB 2108). The BOR was replaced by a new state agency created to merge the state's K-20 education with local governing boards for all public universities. In 2003 the Florida Board of Governors was established to manage the state university system. As a result local board of trustees was appointed for each of Florida's 11 state universities, which is responsible for cost-effective policy implementing and maintaining cost effective programs consistent with the university's mission, performance, evaluation, budgeting, and meeting state policy and education standards.
The thirteen-member UCF Board of Trustees (BOT) was appointed on June 22, 2001. It includes the current elected student government president and is headed by the University president. The remaining members are appointed by the Governor.
