Eastern New Mexico University (Portales, N.M.)

Eastern New Mexico Normal School at Portales was established by a legislative act in 1927 (1927 Laws of N.M., Chp. 70, Sec. 1). Although chartered as Eastern New Mexico Normal School at Portales, the School called itself both Eastern New Mexico Junior College and Eastern New Mexico College between 1927 and 1959. In 1959 a constitutional amendment changed the name to Eastern New Mexico University (1959 Laws of N.M., Constitutional Amendment No. 7).
