Thomson, William Danner, 1876-1952.

William Danner Thomson, lawyer and civic leader, was born 18 May 1876 in Atlanta, Georgia, and died 30 April 1952 in Palm Beach, Florida. Thomson began his law career in his father's Atlanta, Georgia, firm, Candler and Thomson, and later became a partner in the firms Thomson and Hirsch (1906-1928; became Candler, Thomson, and Hirsch) and Tye, Thomson, and Tye (1928-1952). He was active in banking and served as presidentof Atlanta Title and Trust Company, and as board member of Citizens and Southern National Bank. Thomson was one of the founders of Emory University and was a member of the board of trustees (1915-1952) and dean of the law school (1916-1919, 1948-1949). He was also an organizer of Tate Educational Enterprises, which set up vocational, industrial, and academic training schools for boys and girls.
