Jacob Nathaniel Blanck was born 10 November 1906, in Boston, MA, the son of Selig and Mildred Rosenberg (Friedman) Blanck . He attended Boston public schools and received his L.H.D. from Brown University [1969] and P.B.K. from Harvard University in 1970. He was a Rare book editor of Publishers Weekly and Antiquarian Bookman [1936-52], a bibliographer of Americana at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. [1939-41], a consultant on bibliography at Indiana Historical Society, Indianapolis [1942], and editor of the Bibliography of American Literature [1943-74]. A member of the American Antiquarian Society, Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America (honorary), Massachusetts Historical Society, Club of Odd Volumes (Boston) . Blanck died on 23 December 1974, in Boston, MA .
