United States. Army. Colored Cavalry Regiment, 2nd (1863-1866)
The United States Army 2nd Colored Cavalry Regiment was organized at Fort Monroe, Va., on 22 December 1863. The regiment operated primarily in the Virginia theater and participated in the Richmond-Petersburg Campaign. It was sent to Texas in June 1865 for service on the Rio Grande and in other Texas locations until February 1866, when its members were mustered out.
