Attorney, civic leader. Born 1910 in Roswell, New Mexico. Received B.A. in law (1932) from Washington and Lee University. Established private law practice in Roswell and set up firm of Atwood and Malone in 1937. Appointed Deputy Attorney General of the United States for 1952-1953. Served as 82nd president of the American Bar Association, 1958-1959. Member of the second Hoover Comission on the Organization of the Executive Branch of the Government, 1953-1955; President's Commission on Law Enforcement, 1965-1967; and as Vice-President and General Counsel of General Motors, 1967-1974. Active in American Bar Association, Roswell Chamber of Commerce and the Methodist Church. Died in 1974.
