Mudd, Aloysius I. (Aloysius Ignatius), 1844-

Aloysius I. Mudd was an expert on Washington D.C. theater history.

He compiled records of every theatrical and operatic performance in Washington D.C. from June 1800 through the early 1900s, put together a history of Ford's Theatre, and completed THE HISTORY OF POLITE VAUDEVILLE. He also wrote two papers for the Columbia Historical Society on early theaters in Washington from 1800-1850. Mudd was the day manager of the Washington office of the Associated Press until 1892 and was connected with the United Press and the Southern Associated Press until 1897. He then worked as chief clerk of the Department of Agriculture's Division of Publications.
