Justice Daniel Thompson McCall, Jr., of Mobile was born in Butler, Choctaw County, Alabama, March 12, 1909, the son of Dr. Daniel T. McCall and Caroline Winston Bush McCall. His father was a prominent physician in the Mobile area where the young McCall grew to adulthood. He married Mary Montgomery of Anniston, Alabama, on April 3, 1937. Justice McCall attended the public schools and the University Military School in Mobile where he graduate in 1927. He received his A.B. degree from the University of Alabama in 1931, and his LL. B. degree in 1933. He practiced law from then until 1960, with the exception of his years in the military during World War II, as a member of the firm Johnston, McCall, and Johnston. In 1960, he was elected a Circuit Judge of Mobile County. Re-elected in 1964, McCall continued to serve until October 1969 when Governor Albert Brewer appointed him to the Alabama Supreme Court as an associate justice. McCall is now an emeritus trustee of the University of Alabama and lives in Mobile.
