New York (State). Auditing Board.
The Auditing Board was created by Chapter 297 of the Laws of 1862 and was authorized to audit claims against the state for expenses incurred in the organization, equipment, and subsistence of volunteers during the Civil War. During its existence the board audited 1,352 claims of which 728 were allowed and 624 disallowed. A total of $294,948.32 worth of claims was admitted while the board rejected another $294,800.33.
