Box & Austin.
John Box (1697-1774) and Benjamin Austin were proprietors of a rope yard and warehouse on Long Wharf in Boston, Ma. They were also outfitters to the Royal Navy. Their warehouse was consumed by fire in 1760, along with 347 dwellings, stores, and shops along the wharf. After the fire, the Austin family (Jonathan and Benjamin, Jr.) took over the business with a rope walk near Beacon Hill and store at No. 37 on the wharf. Listings for the firm in city directories stop after 1803.
