Seattle Audubon Society

The Seattle Audubon Society was organized in April 1916, one of the earliest local organizations devoted to the protection of wildlife and the conservation of natural resources. Activities of the early organization included monthly meetings, bird walks, an annual bird census, formation of a Junior Audubon Club, and various efforts to preserve bird habitats in the Seattle area. In the later 1960s and 1970s, the Seattle Audubon Society was increasingly involved in environmental issues.
