Clarke, E. W. (Edgar Whitney), 1882-1965
Engineer.
E.W. Clarke graduated from Cornell, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1905. While at Cornell he was a member of the Cornell Society of Electrical Engineers and the Cornell Society of Mechanical Engineers. He won the first Sibley Prize in 1904. After graduation, he worked for the Cambria Steel Company in Johnstown, Pennsylvania until about 1917. The Cambria Iron Company was founded in 1852 in Johnstown; it was reorganized and incorporated as the Cambria Steel Company in 1898. E. W. Clarke began as a clerk in the company, and eventually became Chief Engineer.
