National Union of Bank Employees
In 1918 the Bank Officers' Guild was formed to represent managerial and clerical staff in all banks in England and Wales. In 1919 the Scottish Bankers' Association was formed in Scotland. In 1946 the two bodies amalgamated and adopted the joint title of the National Union of Bank Employees. In 1979 the union renamed itself the Banking, Insurance and Finance Union.
