Southeastern Consortium for Higher Education.
SATCHEM, Inc., originally known as the Southeastern Association for Cooperation in Higher Education in Massachusetts, is now referred to as the Southeastern Consortium for Higher Education. It includes 9 member institutions, five of which have shared two Department of Education Title VI grants. The SATCHEM steering committee is the primary governing body for the consortium and is made up of faculty and administrators from each member institution. SATCHEM's stated purpose is to expand education opportunity, to sustain and improve academic quality, and to achieve economies of operation through cooperation among member institutions. It is engaged in programs and project of professional development, faculty enrichment, administrative enhancement, common purchasing, pre-college counseling, development education, and cross registration.
