Nye, Eugene M., 1920-1976.

Eugene M. Nye was born on August 18, 1920, in Livingston, Montana. He was an organist of repute, and was Head of the Organ Department at Pacific College of Newberg, Oregon. He was also a professional organ builder and serviceman, and in 1960 became Tonal Director for Balcom & Vaughan Pipe Organs in Seattle, Washington. He kept copious notes of every instrument he examined, and his surviving notebooks are a goldmine of detailed information on the organs of the Pacific Northwest, particularly in the cities of Portland, Seattle and Tacoma. He was an avid member of the Organ Historical Society, and a fluent correspondent. He died in Seattle on July 16, 1971.
