Hutton, Dorothy, 1899-2001
Dorothy Wackerman Hutton was an artist and calligrapher. Born in Cleveland, she attended the University of Minnesota, and graduated from the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts before studying in Paris. She married artist Hugh M. Hutton, and settled in the Philadelphia area. She was a member of many artistic organizations, including the Plastic Club. Dorothy Hutton worked as a freelance artist, and later concentrated on fine arts; she also created needlepoint designs. Her work is part of the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution and the Library of Congress.
