Liman, Arthur L.

Arthur Liman was born on November 5, 1932, in New York City. He received a B.A. degree in 1954 from Harvard University and an LL.B. degree in 1957 from Yale University. Liman was a partner in the New York City law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison from 1966 to 1997. He specialized in business law and had many well-known clients, including Wall Street magnate Michael Milken and media conglomerate Time Warner. In addition to private practice, Liman was selected for several public assignments. In 1972, he served as chief counsel of the New York State Special Commission on the Attica Prison uprising (the McKay Commission). He is best remembered for his role as chief counsel to the Senate Iran-Contra Committee in 1987. Arthur Liman died on July 17, 1997, in New York City.
