Morgan, Matthew, 1889-1970.

Matthew Morgan was born in Fort Benton, Montana, in 1889, the son of Thomas F. Morgan, a close associate of Thomas C. Power. The senior Morgan was at the Battle of the Little Big Horn shortly after the battle, was a salesman for T.C. Power and Brother in Fort Benton in 1880, and owned a store in Dubuque and Stanford, Montana in the late 1880s and early 1890s.

From 1904 to 1914 Matthew Morgan was a bronc rider for the Chappel Brothers ranch and then ranched on his own until 1828 when he joined the United States Customs Patrol as an investigator in livestock smuggling cases. He also instructed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on livestock and brands. In 1947 he was transferred to Sasabe, Arizona, on the Mexican border. He retired in 1958.
