National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Philadelphia Branch (Pa.)
A private organization affiliated with the NAACP. It institutes and supports legal and other actions in the fields of civil rights, discrimination, education, housing, employment and law enforcement. It acts as a pressure group in support of black people and their causes. In 1967 the Philadelphia Branch was divided into ten area offices by order of the National Board of Directors.
