Lewis, Eva

Salomon Steinberger (1883-1971) was the chazan of the Israelitische Religionsgesellschaft at the Friedberger Anlage in Frankfurt am Main for almost 30 years, from about 1910 to 1939. A large part of his work was preparing boys for Bar Mitzvah. Born in Hungary while his parents were fleeing from the pogrom and blood libel in Tisza Eszlar, he studied at the Pressburg Yeshiva for 9 years. He left Frankfurt for England in 1939 with his wife Aranka and his two youngest daughters, Inez and Brigitte.
