Hendrickson, G. L. (George Lincoln), 1865-
George Lincoln Hendrickson was born on May 15, 1865 in Winchester, Illinois. He was a classicist, philologist, and educator. Hendrickson died on December 18, 1963, at the age of ninety-eight. Hendrickson attended Johns Hopkins University (B.A., 1877) and studied at Bonn and Berlin. He was a professor of classics, specializing in Latin at several institutions. His longest service was at Yale University, as a professor (1908-1933), chairman of the Department of Classics (1912-1919; 1925-1933), lecturer (1933-1938), and professor emeritus (1933-1963). Hendrickson married Marian Vaux in 1897.
