Smith, Anne M.
Anne Smith began her association with the University of British Columbia as a student, graduating with a B.A. in 1921. She later received a B.L.S. from the University of Washington and an M.A. in Library Science from the University of Michigan. Smith joined the UBC Library as a reference librarian in 1930. Later she became assistant librarian in charge of reference and information services. During two interregna (1949, 1951), Smith served as acting University Librarian. Interest in international library cooperation led her to accept a term appointment to teach library science in Japan. After retiring in 1964, Smith continued to teach courses in the UBC Library School.
