Clarke, Arthur Stanley, 1899-1978.
Arthur Stanley Clarke was born in Lee, Kent in England on 18 July 1899 and died in Brisbane on 3 February 1978. His family emigrated to Australia from England on the "Waipara" in 1913. He studied at the Central Technical College in Brisbane, was apprenticed and became a carpenter and joiner. He married Lillian Larsen 26 April 1930. They had five children. He was employed at Hancock & Gore, and worked on the construction of the Regent Theatre (Brisbane) and the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He was a Freemason for many years and sang in choirs, including the Curlew Male Choir.
