Thornton, Big Mama, 1926-1984
Big Mama Thornton was born Willie Mae Thornton on December 11, 1926. She rose to fame as a singer after recording "Hound Dog" in 1953. She found success in the San Francisco Bay area. She died July 25, 1984.
