League of Women Voters of Nevada
The LWV in Nevada was organized in Reno in 1919, then was inactive until the 1940s. Branches in Carson City, Ely, Elko, Reno, Lovelock, Las Vegas, and other areas were reestablished in the 1950s and 1960s. The League is non-partisan and does not endorse candidates, focusing instead on issues. The League's practice is to study, discuss, and arrive at a substantial consensus before speaking out. Additionally, a special effort is made at election time to bring information to the public regarding candidates' views.
