Fair Mill and Elevator Co. (Tonganoxie, Kan.)
The Fair Mill & Elevator Co. was located in Tonganoxie, Kansas. Originally the Kramer-Fair Milling Co., they borrowed money from the Watkins National Bank which they were subsequently unable to pay back. In 1919-1920, the Kramer-Fair Mill brought suit against the Watkins National Bank which they lost and the Watkins National Bank took over the mill. The mill operated as the Fair-Hinshaw Milling Co. from 1924 with the Watkins National Bank holding title. Officially the bank could not manage the mill; therefore from 1926, the Bank Trustees were named the Mill Trustees and the mill's name was changed to the Fair Mill and Elevator Co. T.C. Green, of the Watkins National Bank, was in charge of the financial management of the Mill and J.R. Fair, who had perviously been joint owner of the Kramer-Fair Milling Co. was the business manager. The bank took over management on June 30, 1926. The Watkins National Bank sold the property in 1928 but there is no information concerning the management after February 1927, or who it was sold to.
