George Washington Bicentennial Commission (Wayne County, Ind.)

The Wayne County George Washington Bicentennial Commission was established in the fall of 1931 to organize local celebrations in recognition of George Washington's 200th birthday. The first meeting was called by Mrs. W.W. Gaar, acting under appointment of Governor Harry Guyer Leslie, and was attended by two representatives of the state commission. The Wayne County Commission organized or was involved in a number of local activities to celebrate Washington's bicentennial. The last recorded meeting was May 10, 1932.
