Hargrove, Allen, b.1908.

Rutledge Hargrove was born in the late 1860s to Frank and Elvira Hansen Hargrove. His parents migrated to Montana in the spring of 1880 and settled in the Toston area. At the age of seventeen Rutledge began working for Huntley and Clark who were owners of the Riverside Ranch near Radersberg. He eventually worked his way up to foreman of the ranching operations and retained that position until Silas Huntley's death in 1907. He also worked for another Huntley concern, the Yellowstone Transportation Company. In 1910 Rutledge was asked to take over management of the new Flying D Ranch, started by Harry Childs and Charles Anceney. He lived on the ranch until his death in 1935. Allen Hargrove was born March 31, 1908 at Toston. He worked for his father Rutledge Hargrove on the Flying D until 1931. He then worked as a cowboy on local ranches, eventually buying a ranch of his own. He died on April 10, 1995.The Rutlege family remainded on the Flying D Ranch until 1950. Rutledge married Emily Knowlton in 1892 and the couple produced 11 children; Ora, Frank, Emery, Ellen, John, Silas, Richard, Theodore, Emily, Allen, and Violet.
