Hoyem, Oliver, 1891-1965

Oliver Hoyem (1891-1965) was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, and educated at the Columbia University School of Journalism. He provided consultant services to labor, prison and housing leaders, agencies and organizations such as Samuel Gompers, the National Committee on Prisons and Prison Labor, and the American Federation of Labor.

From 1934 to 1947 he was editor of Chester Wright's Labor Letter. Hoyem also produced digests of the proceedings of American Federation of Labor conventions, 1935-1947, and Congress of Industrial Organization conventions, 1940-1947. He was labor adviser to the governments of Thailand and Turkey for the Economic Cooperation Administration from 1951 until he retired in 1962. He died on February 8, 1965.
