Hines, Isabell McLean.
The donor, Desleigh White, is the daughter of Mrs Isabell McLean Hines (nee Larkin), the original owner of the items. Mrs Hines was born in 1914 and married Henry James Hines in 1943. She opened and owned 'Bell Hines Bookstore and Library' in the early 1940s. The shop was part of the Sharp and Musgrave Building on the corner of Queen Street and Creek Street (327 Queen Street). As this financial end of Queen Street flourished, the library (which was part of the downstairs area) closed. Bell Hines Newsagency supplied the newspapers to all the banks and stockbrokers in the area. It remained at the same address on Queen Street until 1973 when it was sold. Henry Hines died in 1962 and "Bell", as she was known, carried on the business for the next 11 years until she sold it and relocated to Sydney for family reasons.
