Harrison, Micajah.

Jilson Harrison was the son of Micajah and Polly Payne Harrison. Micajah, a captain in the War of 1812 and a Jacksonian Democrat, served as the first circuit and court clerk of Montgomery County from 1796 to 1823 and was an unsuccessful candidate for Congress. Jilson Harrison also held public office, as mayor of Vicksburg, Mississippi before moving to New Orleans, where he became a wealthy cotton factor. His brother Albert Galliton Harrison served as a land commissioner in the title dispute arising from Spanish grants in the Louisiana Purchase area. Albert was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Missouri for two terms and was seeking the governorship of that state when he died suddenly in 1839. Their brother, James Orlando Harrison, was a prominent Lexington attorney (who also practiced in Vicksburg for a time), a friend of Henry Clay, and an executor of Clay's estate.
