Matz, Rudolf, 1901-1988
Violoncellist, composer, and teacher, born in Zagreb, Yugoslavia; founded the Intellectual's Music Society in 1919 and was its conductor until 1936; organized and conducted the Zagreb Chamber Orchestra; founder and music critic for Sklad (Harmony); cellist with the Sklad Quartet, 1932-1948; professor of cello at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, 1950-1973; author of 32 v. cello method: Prve godine violoncella (The first years of violoncello).
