Nicholson, William F., 1900-1975.

William ("Will") Faust Nicholson was born in Aurora, Ill. in 1900. He graduated from Dartmouth (1922) before moving to Colorado Springs, Colo. in 1924. In the 1930's, Nicholson sold stocks and bonds for Boettcher and Company, Denver, Colo., sold real estate and was part owner of the Denver Bears baseball team. After WWII, he was an unsuccessful candidate for the U.S. Senate (1948), but was elected to the Colorado State Senate (1950, 1954). Nicholson was subsequently elected for one term as Mayor of Denver, Colo. (1955-1959). He was also instrumental in resolving the Blue River water dispute (1955-1956) and in helping obtain federal funding for the construction of the Eisenhower Tunnel. Nicholson returned to the Colorado State Senate in 1966, but retired due to ill health in 1970. He died in 1975.
