Norris, Paul (Paul Leroy), 1914-2007
Paul Norris, a native of Greenville, Ohio, studied at the Dayton Art Institute. He began his career as an illustrator and cartoonist in 1938 working at the Dayton Daily News. He moved to New York City in 1940 and drew several comic strips, including Vick Jordan and Secret Agent X-9. Following service in World War II, he became a staff artist with King Features Syndicate. In 1948 he began drawing the Sunday Jungle Jim comic strip. He then succeeded Clarence Gray on the Brick Bradford comic strip in 1952. He is a longtime member of the National Cartoonists Society and a co-founder of the Southern California Cartoonists Society. Syracuse University also holds a collection of his work.
