Bankhead family.
The Bankhead family was prominent in the 1930s and 1940s, both politically and socially in the United States. The progenitor of this family was John Hollis Bankhead, an influential U. S. senator from Jasper (Ala.) One son, John Hollis, Jr., also was a U. S. senator while another son, William B., was Speaker of the U. S. House of Representatives. Walter H. Bankhead, son of John Hollis, Jr., was also a congressman from Jasper. William B. Bankhead had two daughters, Eugenia and Tallulah, who was a famous stage and screen actress from the 1920s to the 1940s.
