Congressman from South Carolina who served in the U.S. House of Representatives, 1905-1913; native of Marion County, S.C.; 1887 graduate of Wofford College; served in S.C. House, 1894-1896; delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1895; son of William S. Ellerbe and Sarah Elizabeth Haselden Ellerbe; brother of William Haselden Ellerbe; married, 1887, to Nellie Converse Elford (1866-1941).
