Illinois. General Assembly. Regional Transportation Authority Legislative Advisory Committee.
The Regional Transportation Authority Legislative Advisory Committee (1974-1984), composed of five House members (two appointed by the Speaker and three by the minority leader), five Senate members (two appointed by the president pro tempore and three by the minority leader), ex offico members (e.g., House Transportation Committee chairperson; Senate Transportation and Public Utilities Committee chairperson) who resided in authority territory, met with Regional Transportation Authority officers and staff to review authority policies and procedures; and biennially reported legislative recommendations to the General Assembly. The Regional Transportation Authority had been created in 1973 to design, construct, and operate a public railroad system for Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will Counties. The Regional Transportation Authority Legislative Advisory Committee was abolished by the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984.
