Fontanna, Stanley G., 1894-1997?
Stanley G. Fontanna was born in Powers, Michigan on Feb. 5, 1894. He received a B.S. in forestry from the University of Michigan in 1917. He was involved with natural resources for his entire career. He joined the Michigan Dept. of Conservation in 1929, rising to the post of deputy director in 1934. In 1951, he became a professor of forestry and dean of the School of Natural Resources at the University of Michigan. He spent the latter part of his career as undersecretary of the U.S. Dept. of the Interior. He died ca. 1997.
