Gunzberg, Lynn M.

Born on April 21, 1944, Lynn Marian Gunzberg was educated at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A., Italian Studies, 1966) and the University of California at Berkeley (M.A., Italian Literature, 1968; Ph.D., Italian Literature, 1982). In 1982, Gunzberg joined the faculty of Brown University in the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies. Over the course of her tenure at Brown, Gunzberg served as Assistant Professor of Italian Studies and Associate Dean of the College. She taught classes in Italian studies and served on numerous committees, including the Committee on Financial Aid and Admissions, the Royce Fellowship Selection Committee, and the Senior Thesis Committee. Gunzberg was the author of Strangers at Home: Jews in the Italian Literary Imagination (1992) and numerous scholarly articles. She was a member of the Modern Language Association and the American Association of Teachers of Italian. Secretary of the board of Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island, she was on the boards of Temple Beth-El, the Rhode Island Chamber Music Concerts, and the Providence Singers. Lynn Gunzberg died on July 4, 2002.
