Pittsburgh Zionist District.
The Pittsburgh Zionist District is the Pittsburgh chapter of the Zionist Organization of America (founded in 1897), the oldest American Zionist organization. Its mission is to "build support for Israel and strengthen the United States/Israel relationship through public education, the media and public activism," according to the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh chapter was one of the earliest chapters and dates to 1938, if not earlier. While it used to cover a large geographical area, spanning from Pennsylvania to Ohio, West Virginia, and even parts of New York, currently, it is based only in Western Pennsylvania.
