Represented in the collection are Claiborne Watts Gooch (1791- 1844) of "Airfield," Henrico County, and Richmond, Va., adjutant general of Virginia and editor (with Thomas Ritchie) of the Richmond Enquirer; Richard Barnes Gooch (1820-1851), editor of the Southern Planter; and Doctor Philip Claiborne Gooch (1825-1855) of Richmond, Va.
