Moody, John Monroe.

John Monroe Moody was born in St. Clair, Alabama, on February 16, 1822. He moved with his family to Texas in 1835 and following the death of his father, his mother and brother joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the family moved to Utah in 1853. Moody was baptized that same year, and served on the Utah Territorial Legistlature from 1859-1861. He also worked on the St. George settlment, serving on the city council from 1876. Moody was one of the founders of Thatcher, Arizona, and served as Thatcher's bishop from 1883 until his death on January 27, 1884.

Francis Winfred Moody (1858-1919) was a son of John Monroe Moody. He bought a ranch in Pima, Arizona, in 1881 and served as a Sunday school superintendent.
