Wright, Paul Randall, 1876-1965.
Chicago journalist who served as a foreign correspondent for the Chicago Daily News.
From 1918-1919, Wright was attached as a staff correspondent to the American Expeditionary Force in Siberia and the Russian Far East. Later, Wright was stationed in Manchuria, Shanghai, Japan, the Philippines, and various other parts of Asia. From 1926-1928 he covered the Northern Expedition of Chiang Kai-shek and subsequent fighting between the Nationalists and Communists. From 1929-1930 he joined journalists' goodwill tour of the Far East sponsored by the Carnegie Endowment, covered further Nationalist and Communist fighting in Manchuria, and traveled eastward across Siberia and Russia. Wright married Heloise Gai Esterly in 1901, and the two had one son, Randall. Wright died in 1965 at the age of 88.
