Entomologist.
Born 1889 in New York. He obtained his degrees from Cornell University, earning a B.S degree in 1913 and a Ph. D in 1918. As professor of entomology at Amherst, he studied Diptera, especially in the family Tipulidae. He described over 11,000 species and genera of flies. Died on April 17, 1981.
