National Center of Afro-American Artists
The National Center of Afro-American Artists was founded by Elma Lewis in 1968 in Dorchester, Mass. It grew out of a conference of African American artists who met in the mid-1960's to discuss the need for a comprehensive, national institutional center for African American artists.
