Rivera, Ramonita.
Ramona ("Ramonita") Negron Rivera was born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico in 1944, moved to Philadelphia as a teenager, and graduated from J.W. Hallahan Catholic High School for Girls. She was active in a number of Latino organizations in the city, becoming the first woman president of the Council of Spanish-Speaking Organizations ("El Concilio"), and president of the American Legion Post 840. She was also a grand marshal of the Puerto Rican Week Festival parade. Rivera died in 1994. José Rivera, Romanita's husband, was a postal employee, who was the commander of the American Legion Post 840 during the late 1970s and 1980s.
