Polk, Maria H. Dehon, ca. 1857-1941,
Maria H. Dehon Polk was born and lived in New York City. She was associated with Constant Coquelin during her travels in Europe during the 1890s and during his subsequent tours of the United States. Maria H. Dehon married William Mecklenburg Polk in 1914.
The French actor Constant Coquelin, called Coquelin aîné, is chiefly remembered as the creator of the role of Cyrano de Bergerac. In 1905 he founded the Maison de retraite des vieux comédiens at Pont-aux-Dames. Both Coquelin's younger brother, Ernest, called Coquelin cadet, and Coquelin's son, Jean, were actors.
