Instructor and professor of horticulture, Auburn University (1923-1927), Mississippi State College (1928-1930), and Auburn University (1932-1966); head, Department of Horticulture and Forestry (1932-1947) and Department of Horticulture (1947-1966), Auburn University. Instrumental in establishing forestry and ornamental horticulture degree courses at Auburn University; also initiated research in forestry, irrigation, fertilization, and culture of vegetable crops.
