Bacevich, A. J.
Born in Normal, Ill., 1947; graduated from West Point, 1969; served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, 1970-1971; later held posts in Germany, the U.S., and the Persian Gulf, and attained the rank of colonel before retiring in the early 1990s; attained a Ph. D. in American Diplomatic History from Princeton University; taught at West Point and Johns Hopkins University; currently a professor of International Relations at Boston University, and served as director of Boston University's Center for International Relations from 1988-2005; published author.
