Ramey, Roger M. (Roger Maxwell), 1903-1963
Roger Maxwell Ramey (b. Sept. 9, 1903, Emblem, Texas-d. March 4, 1963), Brigadier General in the U.S. Air Force, was commissioned in the infantry from West Point in 1928. He served in a number of positions during World War II, including deputy chief of staff, 7th Air Force; commanding officer, 43rd Bomber Group; commanding general, 5th Bomber Command; commanding general, 38th Flying Training Wing; chief of staff, 21st Bomb Command; and commanding general, 58th Bomber Wing. After the War, he was assigned as commander, 8th Air Force; commanding general, 5th Air Force, and vice commander, Air Defense Command. He retired in 1957.
